On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Asian American Group (AAG) presented Community Achievement Awards to 13 outstanding Las Vegas citizens.  This is the twelfth anniversary of the Gala Awards night.  The event, which was sold out with over 530 attendees, was held at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino Grand Ballroom. Attendees wore traditional dress for their countries of origin or evening wear.  There were cocktails and a silent auction prior to the program, which included entertainment from India and China, the awards and dinner.

Individuals who honored as follows in the order of presentation were: Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Kristine McMillan; Brian Brannaman Senior Vice President of Operations Dignity Health – St. Rose Dominican Nevada ; William Resh, M.D., Nevada Heart Vascular Cardiology Group; Li Yee Erika Guo, M.D., Internal Medicine; Ammar Kerio, Dentist Smiles Today Dental Center; Brenda Halvorson, Chief Executive Officer Papillion Grand Canyon Helicopters; Marce Casal, President/CEO Well Care Pharmacy; Vu Luu, M.D., Anesthsiology Consultants, Inc.; Dhaval Shah, M.D., Clinical Infectious Diseases Specialist-CIDS; Dr. Ruby Gill, India/Las Vegas Government Liaison Community Leader; Steve Lee, President, AREAA-Las Vegas Chapter Asian Real Estate Association of Amrica; Yeaji Suh, PHD, O.M.D, Chief Academic Officer Wongu University of Oriental Medicine; Marianne Blaha, Founder, International Culture Connections Club.

The AAG is an organization with a mission of unifying and strengthening the community.  It has united Asian leaders in the community to work with law enforcement, other charities, elected officials, recognizing the outstanding contributors to our community each year and to identify and help areas of the community in need.

Marion E. Cahlan – Edison Elementary School & Matt Kelley Elementary School has  been “adopted” by the AAG and is helped yearly with books, toys and meals for the students.  The past few years, AAG has awarded college scholarships to students in need. In 2015 AAG & AACNV gave away 1,000 turkeys and plan to double the donations this year.
